On World Menstrual Hygiene Day (May 28th), we invite you to become a driving force for menstrual equity! Support Free Periods Hong Kong (FPHK) to provide more menstrual education resources, break taboos, and drive change!
About Us
Background:
Free Periods HK was founded in 2018 by three groups concerned about menstrual stigma. It became a registered charity in 2021 (IR file number: 91/17421).
Our Mission:
To provide menstrual products, education, and emotional support to help Hong Kong communities facing menstrual-related difficulties.
Our Vision:
To build a society where everyone feels supported, dignified, and confident in managing their menstrual health.

Why Support Us?
Free Periods HK proves that change is possible. When more people understand menstruation and acknowledge the menstrual needs of menstruators and marginalized women, we are actually practicing gender equality. – Joyce

One day, every woman will know: “We can have our own choices.” What we need to do is continue to learn and teach practical menstrual knowledge, so that everyone can find the most comfortable way to cope with their menstruation. – Xaviera

It’s already challenging to engage in gender issues in Hong Kong, and discussing menstruation is even more restricted. If this is a necessary stage for most women, why is there a lack of discussion and further space for action? – Zoe

3️⃣ Life Changer – Jointly Breaking Menstrual Taboos
Challenging Existing Notions: The project breaks the stereotypes of “menstruation is untouchable” and “minority women find it difficult to talk about menstruation,” creating a more inclusive social atmosphere for all people who menstruate.

✨ Asfa’s Transformation | From Doubt to Advocate ✨
Hong Kong’s First Urdu-Language Menstrual Health Program: Funded by the HER Fund and developed over two years in collaboration with Community Cultural Concern (CCC), this program provides menstrual health workshops for minority women, led by Pakistani women in Urdu.
20 participants break menstrual taboos and build confidence: Minority women learned correct menstrual knowledge and began to break down cultural barriers.
Media Recognition: The program was reported in the Ming Pao Sunday Life, commending its contribution to promoting cross-cultural exchange and discussing menstrual health and equity.
Two years ago, Pakistani woman Asfa first encountered a menstrual cup, feeling both curious and shy. Holding the funnel-shaped cup, she wondered, “What is this? How do you use it?” Through the patient explanations of Free Periods HK founder Zoe and CCC colleague, Ling, and their shared personal experiences, Asfa gradually gained confidence and began trying more different menstrual products.
Asfa not only began using menstrual cups and cloth pads herself but also actively purchased suitable menstrual products for her teenage daughter, teaching her how to comfortably manage her menstruation. She also encouraged other mothers in the Life Changer classroom to openly discuss menstruation with their children, breaking menstrual taboos.
